The LiDE 80 had an included TWAIN driver, which works very well with Photoshop (Photoshop Elements was also bundled) as far as I recall all the CanoScans had a TWAIN driver, as it was a specific requirement I had when researching the purchase. I'm surprised by the "doesn't support TWAIN" comment. While the scanner has programmable buttons, all they do is call up the specified screen of the Toolbox app there's no way to actually get it to scan as well so you get a single-touch-on-device photocopy (scan+print), or even scan-to-temp-file. Doesn't support Unicode characters or even spaces in pathnames, or long file- / directory names, so I end up needing to scna ot the Desktop and dragging away

The plugin seemed to by a quick and dirty Carbon port, and Photoshop Elements 4.0 crashed every few minutes while using it (though, to be fair, this could have been because it PSE was running in Rosetta on an intel iMac). Although only a few years old, I was appalled at how terrible the driver software was.

HP is out, since I already have a LaserJet 1200 that I'm unwilling to part with. Since Epson isn't included in the promotion, my options are limited to HP and Canon.
